Part 4: Installing your IP Cameras
Hello and welcome to ApexCCTV continuing tutorial on the VivoTek ST7501 NVR software configuration. If you have not already we recommend that you view the camera configuration tutorial prior to beginning the configuration of you ST7501. All camera editions are done under the configuration menu, camera management.
The first method we will look at is insert camera. When you click on insert camera this is the method to add one camera at a time. You can click on the magnifying glass and it will do a search of your local network to find all current Vivotek cameras on there. Once you select one on the right hand pane all you must do then is enter the user id and password in the lower section. Choose which stream you would like to setup as your view stream. Then click on recording setting; choose which stream you would like to setup as your recording stream, your pre-event time, and your post event time. And also choose which one of the recording groups you want to set that camera to. You can click on connection test, and that will determine whether you have entered your information correctly and show you a correct video display. Once that has done you can click on insert, and on the left hand side you can expand out and see the camera.
The second method is a batch insert cameras. This method is fantastic if you have already gone through and set up all your cameras with an identical user id and password. Or if you are just wanting to install a specific IP range of cameras. Or if you want to install all the cameras on your network once you have configured them. You can select all and click okay and at the top you will see all of the cameras it has attempted to add. You can insert the user id and password for those cameras. Choose your recording settings as with the single. Choose your recording group. If you will notice on both of these tabs you will have an option for apply to all. When you are setting those setting you can highlight one camera at a time and apply those settings if you have done different user id and passwords. Or if you are just wanting to do all cameras with this identical user id and password; you can apply to all and click on insert and it will show you whether if this was successful.
As you can see in our demo we are successful in adding all five cameras to our network. And on the left hand side I can expand each one of these cameras out. You can also choose to save a layout format. Chose a display number of cameras that you are wanting to, and if you will notice all of our camera views are stretched out. This can be corrected by going to configuration, client settings, view settings, and checking the box for keep aspect ratio. Once you click okay there you can now see all the camera views without them being stretched. You can also drop down the event list and size it appropriately so you can get the maximum view from your cameras. If you decide you want to change one of the settings for your cameras; you can always go to configuration, camera management, and choose update camera. On the left hand side choose the camera you would like to modify, change the settings, apply them, and click close.
Thank you for taking this look at the ApexCCTV tutorial on the VivoTek ST7501 NVR solution configuration. If you have questions you may reach us at 1-800-997-8460 sales is option one and support is option two.
