Part 5: User Management

Welcome to the ApexCCTV tutorial on user management for the VivoTek ST7501 NVR software.

In the VivoTek ST7501’s recording software all user management is performed under the configuration menu. Once inside the menu on the left hand side you will see a list of users and the roles that they are listed under. On the right hand side on the bottom you will see a list of function that the user has access to. I am going to create a demo user. I will enter a password and confirm the same password, and then I will choose the role. There are five roles to choose from. I am going to choose power user which is an advanced role that has almost all of the administrative functions added to it without it being a system administrator. But I don’t want them to have quite all the same functionality, but I want him to have more than is allowed for an operator based user.

On the left hand side you will have that function on the right hand side you will have a short description of that function. And if you uncheck a function that has a direct impact on another function you will get a warning window just like I did there. I am almost finished adjusting this user functions. And now that I have completed assigning all the functions; I can then choose whether I want him to have access to all cameras or just access to specific cameras. In this case I am going to allow this user to have access to all cameras. Once again these users are specifically for ST7501 these are not user accounts that exist on the cameras. Once you have completed all of your admin management you can click close.
