Installing a GeoVision Security DVR Card in a PC – How To

Welcome to the ApexCCTV video instruction surveillance series. During this block of instruction, we will be installing a GeoVision PCI video capture card. As you can see, I have removed the PC’s cover to gain access to the PC’s inside and the motherboard. I will be installing a GeoVision GV-1480-PCI card. As you can see, there are four different slots on this board – 2 PCI and 2 PCI express. We will be installing in the PCI slot.

First, you need to locate the PCI slot where you will be installing your GeoVision card. We have chosen to use this slot right here. Notice the notch on each PCI. Make sure they do match, so you do not insert the card in the wrong slot. You will need to firmly, and with even pressure, push the card into the slot. Once the card locks in, check and make sure it is even all the way across.

Once your card is inserted in the motherboard, you’ll need to secure the card down with a screw to make sure that it stays seated into the actual motherboard. Once you get the screw in place, you are finished installing your GeoVision card.

Now that you installed your GeoVision DVR card in your PC, you’ll need to install the GeoVision Surveillance System software provided with you DVR card.

Keep in mind that these instructions apply to any video capture cards including AverMedia and INOX capture cards.
