In its simplest terms, Infrared (IR) energy is light that we cannot see. It is part of the electromagnetic spectrum that includes radio waves, X-rays and visible light. IR imaging is used extensively in video surveillance applications. IR is used when there is insufficient visible light to see. IR increases in-the-dark visibility without actually using a visible light source.
