EB1304NET SATA+ AVerMedia DVR

Pros: I have had this unit for some time now and it has worked witout any issues so far. I love the size of the unit since I am very limited in available space. Two year warrenty.

Cons: None that I have come across yet.

Other Thoughts: Would be nice if it had a CD/DVD burner built in.

Pros: So far the unit has worked without any issues. Software was easy to use, and the ability to view cameras remotely is great

Cons: Only one audio imput :(

Pros: This unit offers real time live viewing and real time recording. You can view this unit remotely over the Internet with Internet Explorer. NO proprietary software is needed which is great. This unit offers a two year warranty, where many DVRs offer only one.

Cons: This unit only offers one audio input. Four audio inputs would be nice.

Other Thoughts: Great looking unit at a fair price! Also, the customer support provided by Apex is amazing and the reps I have dealt with are friendly.

Pros: Product as described in most on-line literature. Supports simultaneous recording, viewing, LAN access (locally and remotely), reviewing prior events. Great price, easy setup, stable software thusfar, most PORT assignments (ie LAN access for webserver and email) can be set. Conservation of disk space during motion recordings is great. The small size surprised me, about 9"(wide) x 6" (deep not counting cables sticking out the backside) x 2" (height).

Cons: Only 4 cameras, D1 is 15 frames per second (fps). Menu, camera captions and symbols on composite video are useless (blurred, font too small) but okay on VGA and LAN. No simultaneous VGA and composite video output (as stated in manual), email output only to SMTP non-SSL servers (ie, you can't email to hotmail/verison/yahoo/gmail etc), email pictures very tiny 160 x 120 resolution (file size about 4KB) and not settable (making the pic useful only for identifying which camera triggered, but no details), does not come with IR remote extender cable. The cooling fan speed is adjustable, but even on "low", it is audible (if you're a light sleeper, you may want to consider locating the DVR outside the bedroom). During motion recording, each event is a separate disk file, could be a + or - negative depending on your expectations. Can't set motion sensitivity on a camera-by-camera basis. LAN access/viewing requires Internet Explorer active-X software install (which may not be possible with some corporate security policies). The alarm "output" only activates its relay if the event is triggered by a WIRED SENSOR INPUT, IT WON'T ACTIVATE BY A MOTION EVENT.

Other Thoughts: The DVR likely has many more Pros than I've listed, the Cons were merely surprises and/or annoyances. Menu text/caption size/font should be adjustable! Should support FTP of pics and video! Email pic resoultion/size should be adjustable. Power switch would be nice.
Summary: It's a very basic, no fancy frills, dependable device at a good price. Would I buy another one, yes.
