VivoTek ST7501 CMS Tutorial, Part 1 – Downloading Installation Components

Hello, and welcome to the ApexCCTV tutorial on installing and configuring VivoTek ST7501 software. You'll first need to download and install it from the disk from the package.

I recommend you check for newer versions online to make sure you install the lastest version. We have the most current version on our support site at http://www.apexcctv.com/support. You go to downloads, go to ip cameras, go to vivotek, and select ST7501 setup, and download it. This is in a zipped file, and you'll need to extract it. Once you extract it, you'll have the the ST7501 setup.exe file. Double click it, agree to the terms and conditions; accept the default installation location.

The next thing you'll need to do, is if you install it on your server that will be doing the reporting, make sure the ST7501 server is checked. By default it's checked at all times. On any remote systems that you'll be connecting to, make sure the box is unchecked. On the next frame, enter the username and password you want to sue. By default, it's STAdmin and when shipped from Apex, the password will be all lowercase stadmin.

We'll click next; the next thing you'll need to do is choose a sql server. This comes with two sql server options; I prefer the microsoft sql server that is the default. You can give the station a name. You can alter the database name if you desire. I tend to leave the username and password the same as the actual password, and when shipped from Apex, that's how it will be; the password will be all lowercase stadmin. Unless you have a specific reason or port issue, you don't want to alter the ports. And you can at this time, change the default recording path. It's recommended that you record to a different drive than your OS and the server is on; in this case you'd choose a different drive other than C. I don't have another drive in this situation, so I'm going to choose the default C drive.

Choose next, and if you already have sql server installed, you can choose this option and you can choose the type of authentication, but the sql server bundle is included in this, so I'm going to choose install. And this usually takes between 2-3 minutes to complete the install. Once the install is complete, you'll click close.

That concludes part 1 of the ApexCCTV tutorial on the VivoTek ST7501 CMS. Part 2 will complete configuration and setup of the live client and playback client. Thank you for visiting apexcctv.com.
