Security NVRs

We offer a complete selection of security NVRs that support up to 32 IP cameras. Security NVRs, or network video recorders, are an incredibly versatile part of any IP camera system and come in a variety of platforms that range from entry-level standalone NVRs to enterprise network video recorders. Our NVRs feature advanced video analytics, multiple viewing & recording modes, remote viewing on your smartphone or tablet, and come with an excellent warranty and free lifetime technical support.

Before purchasing, please confirm that your network video recorder and IP cameras are compatible and don't require an additional IP camera license. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call one of our NVR experts at 800-997-8460.

Differences between NVRs and DVRs

To know what makes an NVR different from a DVR, you need to know how each works.

NVRs, or network video recorders, record video that’s transmitted over an Ethernet network cable, typically Cat5e. The video is captured by an IP camera and transmitted over the Cat5 cable to the NVR through a network switch. The switch can either be installed in the network or the NVR itself depending on the model. NVRs also come with video monitoring software that enables advanced features like object counting, privacy masking, and much, much more.

DVRs, on the other hand, record video directly from the cameras over traditional coaxial cable. These recording units are usually very basic, record in standard definition, and don’t have the same advanced features that NVRs have.

Benefits of Using an NVR

  • Compatible with IP cameras that can record at up to 12-megapixel video resolution
  • Large storage archives with some NVRs supporting up to 128 TB of HDD space
  • Advanced monitoring features like people counting, objecting detection, access control integration, and more
  • Transmit video and power cameras over a single camera run with a PoE switch / injector
  • Cheaper installation costs since power, video, and audio can be transmitted on Ethernet cable
  • Seamlessly integrate with your access control, LPR, and POS systems
